Satur­day morn­ing homi­cide re­ported in Covington

Around 2:31 Satur­day morn­ing, a fight broke out at the in­ter­sec­tion of Chaney Drive and Puck­ett Street, in Covington, lead­ing to shots fired.

Ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from Covington Po­lice Depart­ment (CPD) spokesper­son Al­lan See­baran, CPD re­sponded to a per­son shot call at Puck­ett Street to find Trayvond Bernard Ball, 22, of Covington, ly­ing on the ground with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds.

Of­fi­cers and EMS ren­dered aid, but Ball sub­se­quently died.

Later, Doyl­mar­rian S. Harde­man, 33, of Covington, ar­rived at Pied­mont New­ton Hos­pi­tal with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds. Harde­man was trans­ported to a trauma cen­ter in At­lanta where he is be­ing treated. Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, Harde­man was not at the crime scene when the of­fi­cers ar­rived.

Dur­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered prior to the shoot­ing a group of ap­prox­i­mately

20 peo­ple were gath­ered at the Chaney Drive, Puck­ett Street in­ter­sec­tion.

“At some point an ar­gu­ment was started amongst the group re­sult­ing in shots fired,” ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

Ball and Harde­man are the only two peo­ple shot that CPD is aware of as of Satur­day, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

CPD spoke with eye­wit­nesses and are con­tin­u­ing to in­ves­ti­gate the case.

“CPD in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve that there are more eye­wit­nesses and would like to speak with them to get clo­sure in this case,” ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

At this time there are no charges be­ing filed as in­ves­ti­ga­tors con­tinue to look for in­for­ma­tion from eye­wit­nesses.
