PPD graduates seventh academy class
The Porterdale Police Department graduated its seventh Citizens Police Academy on Sept. 29. The eight-week course gives citizens an up-close view of the how and why police officers do the things they do as they work to serve and protect. The class was started four years ago by Porterdale’s former chief, Jeff Jacobs. The city’s current chief, Jason Cripps, said the purpose of the academy is to build a bridge between the police and the community. The department will hold its eighth CPA in February.
