Kathy Bates set to deliver more of ‘Harry’s Law’

Q: Will “Harry’s Law,” starring Kathy Bates, be returning to TV? Mary Ann Raines,

Edgewater, Md. A: It already has, since NBC has added repeats of the first-season episodes back into its Monday lineup, offering evidence why Bates is a current Emmy nominee for the show (for outstanding lead actress in a drama series). The program begins new episodes in a Wednesday slot Sept. 21, and some casting changes will be evident.

Brittany Snow has left the series, and Mark Valley (“Human Target”) — who previously worked with “Harry’s Law” executive producer David E. Kelley on “Boston Legal” — will become a new co-star, as will Tony Award winner Karen Olivo (“West Side Story”). And Christopher McDonald is being upped to co-star status in his continuing role as

Tommy Jefferson.

Q: Who was the actor who played Jane Rizzoli’s love interest in the season premiere of “Rizzoli & Isles”? What else has he

appeared in?

Mary Dobinski, Grand Junction, Colo. A: He’s British-born Chris Vance, who starred a couple of summers ago in the Fox series “Mental.” He’s also had roles on such series as “Dexter,” “Burn Notice” and “Prison Break,” and in Australia — where he found a lot of work before coming to America — he was featured in the shows “All Saints,” “The Secret Life of Us” and “Stingers.” Q: Did ABC really cancel “V”?

Colleen Ritchie, Daytona Beach, Fla. A: Yes, it really did. From the start, the ratings were less than the network desired from the reboot of the 1980s sci-fi miniseries — and it wasn’t an inexpensive show to make, undoubtedly adding to the decision to discontinue it after two seasons. “V” purists should be happy to know that the second and final round will be available Oct. 18 on DVD

and Blu-ray.

Q: Are any of the actors on “Two and a Half Men” actually doing their own singing in the theme song? I believe I can detect the voices of Angus T. Jones and Jon Cryer.

Barbara Fosler, Glen Burnie, Md. A: To revisit a matter covered here many times, no, none of the show’s stars are doing the singing. Jones himself confirmed that for us some time ago. It will be interesting to see whether a new version is recorded for the upcoming season of the CBS sitcom, since as is well-known by now, Ashton Kutcher is replacing Charlie Sheen. But who knows? Kutcher magically might have the same “singing voice” as Sheen.

Q: Please tell us when new episodes of “Criminal Minds” will start and whether Mandy Patinkin will be in the cast.

Q: Who is the actor who played Major Mitchell in “Independence Day”?

Nancy Goldstone, Stuart, Fla. A: The crime drama begins its seventh year Sept. 21 on CBS, and we can say with reasonable certainty that Patinkin will not back on the show.

Judy Cox, Centennial, Colo. A: You likely don’t watch the NBC series “Chuck.” It’s Adam Baldwin, who has played spy John Casey for the past four seasons and has a fifth and final one coming up. He also has been in the shows “Firefly,” “The Cape,” “The Inside” and “Day Break.” Among his other movies are “Full Metal Jacket” and “Next of Kin,” but one of his best-known roles remains his first: the hulking title character in the 1980 film “My Bodyguard.”
