Man dies in crash; sus­pected in­tox­i­cated driver charged

One per­son died in a rollover crash af­ter be­ing struck by a sus­pected in­tox­i­cated driver in Red Bird on Fri­day night, Dal­las police said.

A 2000 Ford Fo­cus was speed­ing south in the 4500 block of Marvin D. Love Free­way, near West Led­bet­ter Drive about 9:35 p.m. and hit the back of a 2002 Kia Sportage, Dal­las police spokes­woman Melinda Gu­tier­rez said.

The Kia went over the right guardrail and rolled down the grass em­bank­ment, eject­ing the driver. The 59-year-old man died at the scene.

Gu­tier­rez said the Ford Fo­cus struck the wall and the back of a Ford SUV.

That driver, a 36-year-old man, was taken to a hospital, where it was de­ter­mined he was un­der the in­flu­ence of drugs, police said.

He’s been charged with in­tox­i­ca­tion man­slaugh­ter.
