Man dies in crash; suspected intoxicated driver charged
One person died in a rollover crash after being struck by a suspected intoxicated driver in Red Bird on Friday night, Dallas police said.
A 2000 Ford Focus was speeding south in the 4500 block of Marvin D. Love Freeway, near West Ledbetter Drive about 9:35 p.m. and hit the back of a 2002 Kia Sportage, Dallas police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez said.
The Kia went over the right guardrail and rolled down the grass embankment, ejecting the driver. The 59-year-old man died at the scene.
Gutierrez said the Ford Focus struck the wall and the back of a Ford SUV.
That driver, a 36-year-old man, was taken to a hospital, where it was determined he was under the influence of drugs, police said.
He’s been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
