Sus­pi­cious pack­age ‘just a lunch­box,’ bomb squad finds

A bomb squad was dis­patched to Pros­per High School overnight af­ter some­one threw a sus­pi­cious pack­age at the build­ing, but it turned out to be a lunch­box.

A cus­to­dian saw a per­son run up to the front of the school and toss the ob­ject at the front door be­fore run­ning off about 11:45 p.m. Wed­nes­day, ac­cord­ing to a Pros­per ISD state­ment.

The cus­to­dian re­ported it to Pros­per po­lice, who dis­patched the bomb squad as a pre­cau­tion.

The Plano bomb squad truck ar­rived about 2 a.m. In­ves­ti­ga­tors quickly dis­cov­ered the pack­age “was just a lunch­box,” Pros­per ISD said.

By about 2:45 a.m., the sher­iff ’s of­fice had opened the road again and the scene was cleared by 3 a.m.
