EAST OAK CLIFF 28-year-old man arrested in home-invasion robberies
Dallas police arrested one man Friday in connection with a string of home invasions last week in east Oak Cliff. Three other suspects were still at large, police said.
Mike Leija, 28, faces two counts of aggravated robbery, police said. He was being held in the Dallas County Jail in lieu of $201,000 bail.
Tips and surveillance footage helped police piece together a description of the people and a vehicle involved in the robberies, Maj. Jimmy Vaughan said at a news conference Saturday. Police found Leija about 2 p.m. in the described vehicle driving through the neighborhoods where the offenses had occurred, police said.
Police were searching for three other suspects.
One is a 5-foot-tall Hispanic female with brown hair and visible tattoos on her chest. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt. Another is a light-skinned black or Hispanic male who was last seen wearing a red and white zip-up hoodie, white T-shirt, blue jeans and white basketball shoes with a black do-rag on his head.
The third is a 5-foot-10 Hispanic man between 20 and 25 years old who weighs about 230 pounds and was wearing an orange T-shirt.
There was no evidence that the robberies were linked to another home invasion that occurred Tuesday in the Red Bird area, in which a Dallas woman was found dead, police said.
