Straus does right by Texas

The Dallas Morning News - - World -

Re: “Straus must be replaced,” by Ralph Reddick, Tuesday Letters.

I disagree with Reddick. Speaker Joe Straus is one of the saner voices of the Texas House of Representatives. He represents what he feels is best for Texas, not what the far right or Christian conservatives think is best for us.

An example is the bathroom issue, a subject indeed dear to the lieutenant governor and governor, but of concern to very few others. This is mostly a non-issue meant only for grandstanding and to rile up the base.

We have so many more important issues, such as our low-rated public education or high rate of those without car or health insurance. Stop wasting time and money. Michael Podolsky, Dallas
