Jeffress, please take a seat

The Dallas Morning News - - World -

It seems Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Dallas, is in a race with himself for producing the most outlandish comments. This time, he inexplicably injected himself into the debate about National Football League players kneeling in protest during the national anthem. On the Fox & Friends show, Jeffress, an adviser to President Donald Trump, said the players should thank God they don’t have to worry about being shot in the head “like they would in North Korea.” The irony is, that is exactly the sort of treatment of black people by authorities that the football players are protesting. Trump had already needlessly inflamed this situation by calling protesting players SOBs. Now comes Jeffress’ ridiculous two cents in the name of religion. Sometimes, silence is golden.
