The Dallas Morning News - - World -

The Texas Book Festival has outdone itself this year, with a dazzling Nov. 4-5 lineup that includes first-time short-story writer Tom Hanks. Yes, that Tom Hanks, who’s experienced a bit of success on the big screen. His book, Uncommon Type: Some Stories, a collection of 17 stories linked by typewriters, is due out Oct. 17. The Austin event’s marquee name may belong to Hanks, but he’ ll be in the literary shadow of, among others, writers Jennifer Egan, Claire Messud, Jeffrey Eugenides and Gene Luen Yang, the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. Wonder how many big names we’ ll spot during the event’s LitCrawl through Capitol-area bars?
