Teen jailed in hit-run that in­jured 3 con­struc­tion work­ers

Po­lice have ar­rested a 17-year-old driver ac­cused of in­jur­ing three con­struc­tion work­ers in a hit-and-run in McKin­ney on Fri­day morn­ing.

Bran­don Tran told de­tec­tives he thought he hit a sign and pan­icked, McKin­ney po­lice said. Tran was ar­rested Satur­day morn­ing and charged with three felony counts of ac­ci­dent in­volv­ing per­sonal in­jury or death.

Records show that Tran re­mains in the Collin County Jail.

The crash oc­curred just be­fore 8 a.m. Fri­day on Stacy Road be­tween Alma and Ridge roads. The con­struc­tion work­ers were work­ing on a side­walk in the area when the driver veered off the road into them, po­lice said.

One worker was taken to a McKin­ney hos­pi­tal in crit­i­cal con­di­tion and then trans­ferred to a Plano hos­pi­tal. The two oth­ers suf­fered mi­nor cuts and bruises.
