Student arrested over Snapchat threat to school
A ninth-grader was taken into custody Thursday night after allegedly posting a Snapchat video showing a gun and a warning to students at a North Arlington charter school.
“Don’t come to school tomorrow,” a caption on the video said.
Police got a call around 9:40 p.m. from a parent whose child showed them the Snapchat video. In the video, a student removes a handgun from a uniform blazer and puts it inside a backpack. After receiving this tip, police tracked down the student, who attends a charter school in North Arlington. Police did not identify the school.
The student admitted posting the video, and police also discovered that the weapon shown in the video was a BB gun. The student was arrested on a charge of felony terroristic threat and taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.
