MAY DAY FESTIVAL IS AN ANNUAL MYSTIC TRADITION
For more than two decades, the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce has helped usher in an annual rite of passage in the region— the May Day Festival. Although some of the details are still being finalized, organizers say visitors can once again expect a fun day filled with children’s activities.
Held the first Saturday in the month, the festival kicks off with a traditional dance around the May Pole by the Mystic Garland Dancers. The kid-friendly day also features sand art, arts and crafts, face painting and donut decorating.
What started years ago as simply a children’s parade is now a full day of activities in the park, says TriciaWalsh, the chamber’s manager of membership and operations. The only difference this year, she
