Brandon, Fla. — Malcolm H. Craig, 92, of Brandon, Fla., died Sept. 30, 2013, in Tampa, Fla. Born in Canaan, N.H., he grew up in Mystic and retired from the U.S. Army in 1963 as a chief warrant officer after over 20 years of active duty.

After his retirement from the Army, Malcolm worked as a rigger at the Mystic Seaport and then at the Underwater Sound Laboratory before retiring to Florida.

Malcolm was a member of the American Legion in Florida, a charter member and past commander of the VFW Post 3263 Mystic and the Tampa chapter of the Retired Officers Associatio­n.

He is survived by his three sisters, Carolyn Hanley of Mystic, Ina Peterson of Noank, and Martha Deveau and her husband, Ambrose J. Deveau Jr., of Ledyard and Zephyrhill­s, Fla. He is also survived by his stepsons, Donald and Richard Cavagnaro, both of Michigan; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, greatnephe­ws, as well as several step-grandchild­ren.

He was predecease­d by his first wife, Vivienne (Jacobus) Craig, and his second wife, Helen (Cavagnaro) Craig.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Elm Grove Cemetery, Route 27, Mystic, followed by military honors.
