Sheila Meade
Plainfield — Sheila Virginia Meade, 61, of Plainfield, a longtime resident of the Groton area, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Yale New Haven Hospital from cardiac complications, after a long battle and strong fight with multiple medical issues.
Born July 26, 1955, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Sheila graduated Robert E. Fitch High School in 1973. She was an avid supporter of the HSUS Humane Heroes and donated to several veterans organizations.
Sheila loved traveling, playing pool, going to concerts, socializing, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed creating string art and drawing. She also enjoyed traveling with the wind in her hair, either in her convertible or on a motorcycle. Her warm laughter, “sassy” personality and great sense of humor will be greatly missed and always remembered.
She is survived by her daughter, Melerie Turner; grandchildren Eric Dahl II, Kevin M. and Hunter J. Wright-Turner; brother, Kenneth Meade; and longtime partner, James Sylvester.
Sheila was preceded in death by her son, Michael Turner; parents, Kenneth and Mary Meade; and sister, Adrienne Meade.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Byles Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Directly following, a celebration of life will be held at Ryan’s Pub located at 112 Fort Hill Road, Groton.
