GROTON TOWN POLICE TO PROMOTE 20-YEAR VETERAN TO SERGEANT

Groton — Town police today will host a ceremony to promote a veteran officer to the rank of sergeant.

The ceremony for Master Patrol Officer Christophe­r Holt, who has been with the department since 1998, will begin at 3 p.m. at the Groton Town Police Headquarte­rs.

Holt, a native of Madison, has served in the department’s patrol division as a patrol officer, a substitute field training officer, a community policing officer and an acting sergeant. He also served as a K-9 officer for nine years with his partner, Karo.

Holt has received many awards over the years, including one for rescuing a suicidal male who was attempting to jump off the Gold Star Memorial Bridge and another for working with Karo to track down and apprehend an armed murder suspect.

Holt, who lives in southeaste­rn Connecticu­t with his wife, Jessica, has two children: Connor Jacob, 3, and Logan, 8.

Holt’s brother, Eric, also is in law enforcemen­t as an officer with the East Lyme Police Department.

Upon promotion, Holt will become a field supervisor in the Patrol Division.
