Tearing down statues not the American way

The Day - - OPINION -

One thing I have learned about the America I live in today — we never learn anything. Whether it is stupid wars, budgets, taxes — we never learn.

Now we seem intent on destroying our history. First it is Confederate statues. I read where New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio states that it might be a good idea to tear down a statue of Christopher Columbus, because it is apparently a symbol of hate. How that is I will never figure out. But I do remember this. A couple of years ago when ISIS was wreaking havoc in places like Syria by tearing down historical monuments, we in America were shocked, and personally I couldn’t believe how much people could really hate.

I guess everybody was shocked except Mayor de Blasio. Paul Hill East Lyme
