Fire­fight­ers knock down blaze at Ston­ing­ton home

Ston­ing­ton — Fire­fight­ers from sev­eral area de­part­ments were called out Wed­nes­day night for the re­port of a fire at 263 Farmholme Road.

The fire was re­ported about 7:50 p.m. Fire­fight­ers from the We­quete­quock, Paw­catuck, Ston­ing­ton Bor­ough and Old Mys­tic de­part­ments re­sponded. When fire­fight­ers first ar­rived, flames could be seen com­ing out of the rear of the house. The blaze was knocked down quickly, and at 8:17 p.m. only a small amount of smoke could be seen from the roof of the two-story home. Records show the prop­erty is owned by Steve and Paula Sut­ton.

The fire was re­ported by the home­own­ers, who es­caped with no in­juries, po­lice at the scene said.

The fire was un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
