Welcome home
The spring/summer season of The Day’s “Live Lunch Break” concert series comes to a close today with a performance by Bergin O’Malley at noon in New London’s Telegraph Records Shop.
It’s O’Malley second “LLB” appearance, but a lot has happened since she first guested in 2014. A former Stonington resident, the gifted pianist/singer/songwriter spent the last few years in Berkeley, California. We’re happy she’s back permanently — and just in time to share music from her latest album, “Somebody.” It’s an amazing collection of songs, admittedly on the melancholy side and tinged with longing and loss — “Longer You Love Someone” and “Some of Us Fall” are amazing tunes that make you want to reach out and reassure someone close you love them — but “Somebody” also has plenty of celebratory moments.
It’s worth noting that O’Malley also writes and performs children’s music, so there might a few tunes for the kiddos, as well.
“Live Lunch Break” will reconvene later in the year, and we’ll keep you posted.
