Robert Williams

Stonington — Robert D. Williams, 55, of Stonington, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Bob was predeceased by his father, Harold.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda (Fontaine) Williams of nearly 25 years; and is the loving father to Aaron and Casey. Bob will be sadly missed by his dear mother, Evelyn; sister, Judy Craig (brother-in-law, Brad); brothers, Mike and David Williams (sister-in-law, Sachiko); and sister-in-law, Delnora; as well as Brenda’s family, Connie and Julien (mother and father-in-law), Debbie, Judy and Norm, Kenny and Kathy and brother-in-law Karl; 15 incredible nieces and nephews. Not to be forgotten, his loyal companion, Mellow Boy.

Bob was a graduate of Western Washington University, in Bellingham, Wash., and after graduation became a dedicated scientist in the field of neuroscience, specializing in Alzheimer disease research. Growing up in the Seattle area, his love of anything outdoors was immense. He enjoyed skiing (water and snow), boating and biking. Bob loved to work with his hands, this came from his father and grandfather who introduced him to the art of woodworking. His love for photography was handed down from his mom. Bob was never without his camera capturing all of life’s adventures. Above all, he was extremely passionate about music. As a selftaught musician of the trumpet, piano and guitar, Bob enjoyed ‘jamming-out’ with several of his friends and was a leading member of rock group 28 Strings of Stonington.

His family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Calvary Church, 27 Church St., Stonington. Burial will be private for the family.
