Ledyard — It is with great sadness that the family of Emerson M. “Mike” Earl announce his unexpected passing on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at the age of 65.

He was born on July 16, 1953, in Colonie, N.Y., to Emerson and Susan (Kravic) Earl.

Mike served seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He worked at Foxwoods Casino for the past 15 years where he was affectiona­tely known as “Mikey.” Mike was also employed at Stop & Shop for the past 10 years where he was nicknamed “Curly” by his work family.

Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r and friend to many. He was known for putting the needs of others before his own. Mike loved spending time with his family and dog, Kennedy. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Kelly (Loftus) Earl. Mike is also survived by his children, Jolene (Chris) Bullis, Michael (Allison) Earl and John Earl (Arin Ferreira); his brother, George (Karen) Earl; and his beloved grandchild­ren, Hailey Bullis and Casey Earl.

Memorial calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Connecticu­t Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
