Mys­tic — Con­stance Ada Wa­trous, 86, of Mys­tic, passed away at her res­i­dence on Satur­day morn­ing, Nov. 10, 2018.

Con­stance was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Led­yard, the daugh­ter of Dud­ley E. and Martha (Prosser) Wa­trous.

She grad­u­ated from Robert E. Fitch Sr. High School in 1951 and Con­necti­cut Col­lege for Women in 1955, where she ma­jored in mu­sic and vi­o­lin. She re­ceived her mas­ter’s de­gree from Columbia Univer­sity School of Li­brary Sci­ence in 1961 and re­ceived an ad­vanced cer­tifi­cate in li­brary sci­ence in 1975. She also at­tended South­ern Con­necti­cut State Col­lege for teacher cer­ti­fi­ca­tion.

Con­stance was the li­brar­ian at the Wil­liams School in 1956 and the li­brar­ian/me­dia spe­cial­ist at Ston­ing­ton High School from 1957 un­til re­tir­ing in 1992. She also was a life mem­ber of both the Con­necti­cut Teach­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion and the Na­tional Ed­u­ca­tion As­so­ci­a­tion.

She spent a life­time spread­ing God’s word and love to all. She was de­voted to her fam­ily and had many hob­bies in­clud­ing read­ing, mu­sic, hand­crafts, knit­ting, cro­chet­ing, weav­ing, spin­ning and pho­tog­ra­phy.

Con­stance is sur­vived by her sis­ter, Phebe Wa­trous of Mys­tic.

She was pre­de­ceased by her brother, Al­bert P. Wa­trous; and her sis­ters, Martha, Louise and Alice Wa­trous and Mil­dred Hall.

Fu­neral ser­vices and in­ter­ment will be pri­vate.
