HICKENLOOPER TO TIE THE KNOT ON SATURDAY
Gov. John Hickenlooper will marry his fiancée, Robin Pringle, in a small private ceremony on Saturday.
The 63-year-old Democrat proposed to Pringle, 37, during the Christmas holiday after dating her for more than a year.
“It’s going to be a tiny little service,” Hickenlooper said.
“We are trying to low-key the wedding just because we have two choices,” the governor explained. “This is the one weekend in the space of a couple months that we could get hitched.
“Or if we wait three or four months, then we’d end up having a gigantic wedding that would be 500 people or 600 people.”
The couple opted for the smaller option.
“An occasion like that should be something that’s powerful and intimate, so that’s what we decided to do: seize the moment and do it on very short-term. Most of the people are going to be from out of town and very few people local,” he added, declining to offer further details.
This is the governor’s second marriage. Hickenlooper and his first wife, author Helen Thorpe, divorced after 10 years of marriage.
