Den­ver po­lice have re­leased de­tails in a west side of­fi­cer­in­volved shoot­ing Mon­day that left a 32-year-old man dead, say­ing two mem­bers of the force are on leave as the depart­ment in­ves­ti­gates the case.

The city’s med­i­cal ex­am­in­ers of­fice iden­ti­fied the slain man as Ra­mone Lon­er­gan, say­ing he died of mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds and rul­ing his death a homi­cide.

Lon­er­gan was ini­tially taken to Den­ver Health Med­i­cal Cen­ter in crit­i­cal con­di­tion be­fore his death was an­nounced by po­lice Tues­day morn­ing. The coro­ner says Lon­er­gan died Mon­day just be­fore 5 p.m.

Aurora po­lice de­tec­tives are as­sist­ing with the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in ac­cor­dance with new state pro­to­cols for in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer-in­volved shoot­ings, po­lice said.
