Obama opens road trip in Ne­braska • omaha, neb.» Pres­i­dent Obama and his Cab­i­net mem­bers fanned out across the coun­try Wed­nes­day, hop­ing to drive home the key mes­sages in the pres­i­dent’s State of the Union ad­dress in a se­ries of liv­ing-room and town-hall meet­ings.

Obama trav­eled to Omaha, where he met with Lisa and Jeff Martin and their fam­ily. Lisa, an English teacher, had writ­ten to the pres­i­dent as a new mother about her wor­ries for her new­born son Cooper in the face of cli­mate change.

After­ward, Martin in­tro­duced Obama as he de­liv­ered a speech at the Univer­sity of Ne­braska’s jam-packed Bax­ter Arena.

Cruz to amend re­ports, in­clude 2012 loan • Repub­li­can pres­i­den­tial can­di­date Ted Cruz said he’ll amend fi­nance re­ports from his suc­cess­ful 2012 Texas Se­nate bid, if nec­es­sary, to show he used loans to cover cam­paign costs.

Cruz made the com­ments Wed­nes­day af­ter a New York Times re­port said he and his wife, Heidi, ob­tained low-in­ter­est loans from Gold­man Sachs Group Inc. and Cit­i­group Inc. in the first half of 2012. The funds to­taled as much as $750,000 and in­creased to a max­i­mum of $1 mil­lion, ac­cord­ing to The Times, and weren’t dis­closed in cam­paign fi­nance re­ports at the time.
