Daughter, “Not to Disappear”

The Denver Post - - LIFE & CULTURE -

When the London trio Daughter made its debut in 2013 with “If You Leave,” their folk tremblings left a gutting impression. In the years since, things haven’t changed much. “Not to Disappear” is awash in sadness with every wave of guitars, toms or distorted synths. Elena Tonra’s voice practically aches on the album. And while it fits nicely with the roomy atmospherics, it’s most arresting when it rings through the scores of the album’s massive swells. If you’re up to feel down, the album encourages it. — Ashley Dean
