Conifer woman killed by po­lice

A 25-year-old Conifer woman was fa­tally shot and a Golden man has been ar­rested af­ter the man al­legedly tried to ram a po­lice of­fi­cer in a stolen car dur­ing a high-speed chase in El Ca­jon, Calif., au­thor­i­ties say.

Kelsey Rose Hauser has been iden­ti­fied as the de­ceased per­son. A dog also died in the shoot­ing at 1:30 a.m. Satur­day in El Ca­jon.

A po­lice of­fi­cer shot Hauser, a pas­sen­ger in a car that had been stolen months ear­lier in Den­ver, as the driver sped to­ward an of­fi­cer who had just got­ten out of his po­lice car.

The driver, Ge­of­frey H. Sims, 34, of Golden, has been ar­rested for in­ves­ti­ga­tion of at­tempted mur­der, as­sault with a deadly weapon on a po­lice of­fi­cer and felony evad­ing, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease by the El Ca­jon Po­lice Depart­ment.

Sims and Hauser were wanted on felony war­rants in Colorado.

Two other pas­sen­gers in the car, Todd Zigler, 36, and Brian Alan Blafield, 20, both of El Ca­jon, were ar­rested for in­ves­ti­ga­tion of nar­cotics pos­ses­sion, the news re­lease says.

A red 2014 Toy­ota Yaris was stolen Aug. 11 in Den­ver, po­lice say. El Ca­jon of­fi­cers spot­ted the stolen car in the 1300 block of East Main Street at 1:25 a.m. Sims stopped the car. But when the po­lice squad car pulled up be­hind, po­lice say he sped away, start­ing the chase.
