MacKINNON WOULD ENJOY DROUIN REUNION
The Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday suspended winger Jonathan Drouin, Nathan MacKinnon’s former major junior linemate with the Halifax Mooseheads and the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 draft, without pay for not showing up for the AHL Syracuse Crunch’s game against the Toronto Marlies.
Drouin’s agent, Allan Walsh, said Drouin wouldn’t play again until he was traded.
When Drouin was sent down to the AHL recently, MacKinnon mused about playing again with him.
“That’d be awesome,” MacKinnon said then. “I don’t want to speculate too much on that stuff. If I can play with him again, that’d be great, but I’m sure they want a lot for him, and we have a good team here as well. Obviously, if the opportunity arises, it would be a lot of fun.”
