WARRANT FILED AGAINST MAN DRESSED AS SANTA
Lakewood police have issued a warrant for investigation of attempted murder against a man who was dressed as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve when he allegedly stabbed a man on an RTD bus.
Brian Jacob Delorme, 34, a homeless man, was arrested Wednesday in Walsenburg on a Denver warrant.
He was transferred to Denver on Friday, according to a Huerfano County deputy, and is being held in jail.
After learning of his arrest, Lakewood detectives who had suspected Delorme’s involvement in the stabbing also obtained a warrant for his arrest, said Steve Davis, Lakewood police spokesman.
The Lakewood warrant is for suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and firstdegree assault, Davis said.
Delorme allegedly stabbed a man at 1 a.m. on a bus near South Sheridan Boulevard and West Florida Avenue. The bus driver called police. The suspect was described as wearing a complete Santa suit and left on foot.
Delorme has been arrested on theft charges in Arizona, Mississippi and Colorado dating back to 2001, according to court records. Between 2001 and 2010, he was arrested four times on theft charges.
