Lake­wood po­lice have is­sued a war­rant for in­ves­ti­ga­tion of at­tempted mur­der against a man who was dressed as Santa Claus on Christ­mas Eve when he al­legedly stabbed a man on an RTD bus.

Brian Ja­cob Delorme, 34, a home­less man, was ar­rested Wed­nes­day in Walsen­burg on a Den­ver war­rant.

He was trans­ferred to Den­ver on Fri­day, ac­cord­ing to a Huer­fano County deputy, and is be­ing held in jail.

Af­ter learn­ing of his ar­rest, Lake­wood de­tec­tives who had sus­pected Delorme’s in­volve­ment in the stab­bing also ob­tained a war­rant for his ar­rest, said Steve Davis, Lake­wood po­lice spokesman.

The Lake­wood war­rant is for sus­pi­cion of at­tempted first-de­gree mur­der and first­de­gree as­sault, Davis said.

Delorme al­legedly stabbed a man at 1 a.m. on a bus near South Sheri­dan Boule­vard and West Florida Av­enue. The bus driver called po­lice. The sus­pect was de­scribed as wear­ing a com­plete Santa suit and left on foot.

Delorme has been ar­rested on theft charges in Ari­zona, Mis­sis­sippi and Colorado dat­ing back to 2001, ac­cord­ing to court records. Be­tween 2001 and 2010, he was ar­rested four times on theft charges.
