U.K.’s disgraceful Trump debate

The Denver Post - - OPINION - Re: Stan Edwards,

“Brits debate ban on Donald Trump,” Jan. 19 news story.

The British Parliament held a debate about an American candidate running for the office of president of the United States. Comments like “Daft and offensive,” “Ridiculous xenophobe,” and “Buffoonery” were bandied about, while British legislators giggled. If they have no respect for the man, at least they should have respect for the office for which he is running. Can you imagine our Congress holding a session to bash the Queen of England or the royal family? I believe our congressmen, although not often accused of having either common sense or courtesy, would have more of both than to do so.

There are currently debates in the U.K. about restricting immigration of more Muslims until effective background checks can be guaranteed. Their position is not so far from Donald Trump’s. If he is elected, will they expect him to be easy to get along with after this?
