aurora » An off- duty Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy who was shot and seriously injured during a robbery Tuesday night was in stable conditionW­ednesday.

The deputy, who has not been identified, remains in the intensive care unit, but his prognosis for recovery is positive, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

“For that we are incredibly grateful,” the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.

A reward for informatio­n leading to the capture of the second of two suspects has been tripled to $ 6,000.

The deputy was injured in the parking lot of an apartment complex when he exchanged gunfire with two suspects, including a 16- yearold who was shot in the leg and later arrested, police say.

Colorado woman found dead in Vienna is identified.

Authoritie­s have identified the 25- year- old Colorado woman found dead in her Vienna apartment.

The death of Lauren Mann is being investigat­ed by Austrian police, said Beth Finan, spokeswoma­n for the Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Police said Mann’s body was found after she did not show up at the home where she worked as an au pair and her employer called police.

Pesticides force 2 more pot recalls. Denver marijuana

business Organa Labs on Wednesday announced two voluntary recalls involving more than 1,000 OpenVape hash oil- loaded vape pen cartridges and other infused products made with cannabis originally grown by pot business Strainwise.

While Organa Labs voluntaril­y recalled the products over the presence of illegal pesticides that Gov. John Hickenloop­er considers a threat to public safety, the company simultaneo­usly lashed out at the city of Denver’s Department of Environmen­tal Health for what Organa Labs called “a campaign against legal cannabis.”

All five of the banned pesticides on the Department of Environmen­tal Health’s testing panel— imidaclopr­id, myclobutan­il, etoxazole, avermectin and spiromesif­en— were detected in Organa Labs’ two recalls announced Wednesday, the city’s 17th and 18th recalls in 19 weeks.

Police sergeant arrested

B colorado springs » Police arrested one of their own sergeantsW­ednesday on charges of assault and menacing.

Police received a complaint about Sgt. Steven Biscaro on Dec. 2 after he responded to a traffic accident that resulted in a disturbanc­e, according to a news release.

An investigat­ion resulted in his arrest for third- degree assault, a misdemeano­r, and menacing, a felony.

Inmate bites off own thumb

B larimer county » A jail inmate bit off one of his thumbs and slid it under his cell door in the path of a passing deputy, officials said Wednesday.

The deputy was doing his standard rounds about 2 a. m. Wednesday when he saw something slide in front of him, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Upon closer inspection, the deputy discovered it was a human thumb.

The inmate, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital, but doctors were unable to reattach his thumb.
