Transit lowers carbon emissions

The Denver Post - - OPINION -

Re: “East Colfax bus line navigates pushback,” Jan. 22 news story.

Denver transportation planners are forward thinkers in proposing the East Colfax bus rapid transit line. This line has the possibility of easing congestion, with fewer people driving and more people using public transportation, as the city develops more transit- oriented housing.

This is the 21st century— and 21st century transportation needs and expectations will need to change. Even GMand Ford motor companies are realizing that combustion enginepowered transportation will become out of date and new infrastructures will need to be designed and developed. One of the driving factors regarding transportation should be lowering carbon dioxide emissions.

It is time to get on board with new and better ideas for our transportation needs to ensure cleaner air and the health of our planet.
