CITY SUED OVER RED ROCKS ADA ACCESS
A class-action lawsuit was filed Thursday in federal court claiming the city of Denver, as owner of Red Rocks Amphitheater, violates the Americans with Disabilities Act by discriminating against patrons who use wheelchairs.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, claims that concertgoers who use wheelchairs are restricted to “all but the most distant seats” of the 9,525 capacity, world-famous outdoor theater in Morrison, opened in 1906.
Six plaintiffs, all residents of Colorado, on behalf of themselves and other similarly situated people, filed suit to ensure “they … have equal and meaningful access to this remarkable Colorado treasure.”
All the plaintiffs have a “disability” that limits or impairs activities, including but not limited to walking.
They all rely on a a wheelchair for mobility, according to the lawsuit.
High school teacher accused of sex assault.
westminster» A teacher at Westminster High School was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student.
Benjamin Forbes, 30, is suspected of sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust and sexual assault on a child pattern of abuse, according to Westminster police. School administrators contacted police Thursday about “an incident which occurred between a teacher and a student on the school campus.”
Forbes, who teaches math, is being held at the Adams County jail. He has resigned.
Two men linked to weekend homicide wanted for two more murders B
colorado springs» Two men already allegedly linked to one Colorado Springs murder were named as suspects in the deaths of two women who were shot to death early Tuesday morning.
Warrants for first-degree murder have been issued against Richard Allon Spanks, 25, and Haywood Eugene Miller Jr., 24, for allegedly shooting Jacqueline Cline, 33, and Victoria Loftis, 23.
The women’s bodies were found in the 3500 block of Mosswood Lane at 2:53 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release by Lt. Howard Black, police spokesman.
Miller was arrested and is in custody in connection to the murder of Marcus Williams, 21, who was found dead Saturday night inside a home on the 2000 block of Carmel Drive. Williams and another man were shot.
The other man was injured critically.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Spanks, who is considered armed and “extremely dangerous.” Investigators are trying to locate a vehicle registered to Spanks, a red 2010 Kia Forte EX with the Colorado license plate QNC 845.
Nine antelope, two deer killed in poaching case
B kit carson county» Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials are offering a $5,000 reward for information in solving a poaching case. In a two-night span in November, a poacher or poachers shot nine antelope and two white-tailed deer, according to wildlife Officer Aaron Berscheid. The big-game animals were shot near Seibert, in the southwest corner of Kit Carson County. The carcasses were then left to rot, he said.
