boul­der» Af­ter a dis­mal and dis­ap­point­ing home loss to Colorado State a week ago, Colorado men’s basketball coach Tad Boyle said his team would have to get one back at some point.

The Buf­faloes got it Wed­nes­day. And it was a big one.

Us­ing a huge, game-break­ing 15-0 run mid­way through the first half, CU was able to storm past No. 13 Xavier for a thrilling 68-66 win Wed­nes­day night at the Coors Events Cen­ter.

The Mus­ke­teers put to­gether a 16-2 run on ei­ther side of half­time to build a nine­point lead early in the sec­ond half. Xavier still led by eight points when the Buffs ripped off 15 points in a row, a burst high­lighted by two 3-point­ers by Xavier John­son as well as 3-point­ers from Ge­orge King and Der­rick White.

White had a huge game for the Buffs, scor­ing a team-lead­ing 23 points with a 3for-6 mark from 3-point range. White also posted six re­bounds and four as­sists.

John­son bat­tled through foul trou­ble to fin­ish with 18 points and seven re­bounds, while King posted a dou­ble-dou­ble with 16 points and 10 re­bounds.
