USS CVN CARL VINSON
Who: Vanda and Don Edington, of Cheyenne, Wyo. Where: Flight Deck of the Aircraft Carrier USS CVN Carl Vinson in San Diego. Best meal: Miguel’s Cocina for authentic Mexcian food (get the white and red salsa with chips to nibble on until monster plates of food arrive). Located in the El Cordova hotel, just across from the Del Coronado Hotel. Best deal: Flying “space available” as retired military. Military personnel have the benefit based on their active or retired military service. It is free. We flew with the Wyoming Air National Guard on a C130 to San Diego and back. Best time to go: Any time you can get away. Best travel tip: Strike up a conversation and be prepared for a new adventure. The sailor outside the Vinson told us how to get a tour by emailing the Public Affairs Office on the ship. We took an amazing tour and made a new friend in ENS Philips. Submit to Paper Trails!
