When the Broncos run

The Broncos have been mediocre on the ground since C.J. Anderson went down in late October with a knee injury. Kapri Bibbs was a spark before a high ankle sprain ended his season last Sunday. Now the Broncos are hoping for a turnaround from Devontae Booker and newcomer Justin Forsett. The Titans’ run defense is one of the best in the NFL, allowing an average of only 92.3 yards a game. Edge: Titans

When the Titans run

Tennessee’s DeMarco Murray received the stamp of approval from Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who called him one of the two or three best running backs in the NFL. Murray, quarterback Marcus Mariota and rookie tailback Derrick Henry fuel the NFL’s third-best rush offense. Denver has the league’s fifthworst run defense. Edge: Titans

When the Broncos pass

The return of Trevor Siemian would be great for the Denver offense, which struggled last week in Paxton Lynch’s second start. Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas are on pace to each surpass 1,000 yards receiving for the third consecutive season. They have an extremely good matchup against a porous Titans secondary, which is allowing more than 270 yards passing per game. Edge: Broncos

When the Titans pass

Because of their strong run game, the Titans have caught teams off guard with their passing attack. Mariota’s touch on his deep ball is his biggest improvement. Tight end Delanie Walker is the Titans’ top weapon in the passing game. Tennessee has allowed only 18 sacks. But the Broncos lead the NFL in pass defense, sacks and crushing quarterbacks’ dreams. Edge: Broncos

Special teams

Riley Dixon is finally showing the consistency and strong performance that convinced the Broncos to draft the punter in April. He has been needed increasingly more as the offense sputters. Kalif Raymond gave Denver a spark as a punt returner last Sunday. The Broncos’ Brandon McManus and the Titans’ Ryan Succop have made better than 86 percent of their field-goal attempts. Edge: Broncos
