High tech ho ho ho
Santa is going virtual as malls look for new ways to coax shoppers through their doors over the holidays. About 40 U.S. malls have opted for high-tech entertainment options like virtual sleigh rides and programs that can take a user’s face from a selfie and put it on a dancing elf. The displays are intended to offer an in-person experience that online retailers like Amazon can’t match. Most of the malls say people can walk through the displays without buying anything, and a photo with Santa costs around $30, the same as other malls.
