Without leaks, not much news

The Denver Post - - OPINION - Re: Dan Danbom,

“Adele Arakawa announces 9News retirement,” Dec. 7 news story.

In today’s “goose-meet-gander” segment, longtime TV news anchor Adele Arakawa “expressed dismay at the way her retirement was leaked ... . ” Isn’t it a wee bit hypocritical of a supposed news organization to complain that information was leaked? What do they think their “send us a news tip” solicitation generates? Adding to the irony, The Post’s online story about Arakawa also had a sendus-a-news-tip feature. Without the benefit of leaks — I mean “news tips” — I don’t think a newscast could go more than six minutes, and a newspaper six pages.
