POLICE MAKE ARREST IN DEATH OF LOCAL RAPPER

The Denver Post - - NEWS - By Dylan Owens

Denver police used DNA evidence to identify and arrest a suspect in the fatal October shooting of Denver rapper Boss Goodie (Tyrone Adair Jr.) outside of RiNo nightclub Cold Crush.

Harold Mortis, 27, is being held for investigation of firstdegree murder in the slaying of the 29-year-old artist.

Records show Mortis was arrested Sunday and is being held at Denver’s downtown jail in lieu of bail. Prosecutors formally charged him Wednesday with the murder count as well as being a previous offender in possession of a weapon.

According to an arrest affidavit, police used witness testimony to connect Mortis to a baseball cap left inside Cold Crush on the night of the Oct. 10 shooting. A subsequent test of DNA on the hat connected it to Mortis, who had previously been arrested for aggravated robbery.
