MOM WHO LEFT TODDLER IN CAR IS CHARGED

- By Kieran Nicholson

A 26-year-old mother accused of leaving her toddler alone in a car overnight, in dangerous sub-zero temperatures during a snowstorm on the same night she drank vodka, was charged Wednesday Carmon with felony

child abuse. Nicole Carmon appeared Wednesday in Adams County court and was charged with one count of child abuse causing serious bodily injury, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Carmon had reported the boy missing Saturday morning, saying she had left him in her vehicle overnight, but she didn’t know where it was parked.

Dozens of Thornton police officers searched for the boy, finding him at about noon Saturday half strapped to a car seat in her vehicle in a parking lot at 901 E. 120th Ave. He was rushed to a hospital and treated for frostbite and hypothermia.

An arrest affidavit says Carmon, of Westminster, told officers she had taken six shots of vodka Friday evening as an arctic storm moved into the region. BBB
