CEO: AIR FORCE ONE TO COST UNDER $4B

The Denver Post - - BUSINESS -

Boeing Co. chief executive officer Dennis Muilenburg said he told President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday that his company can build a new version of Air Force One for less than $4 billion, after the Republican criticized the cost of the plane.

Muilenberg met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Trump has criticized the Pentagon’s budget to buy the new 747 jumbos and outfit them with safeguards ranging from anti-missile defenses to withstanding the shock waves from a nuclear blast.

“I was able to give the presidentelect my personal commitment on behalf of the Boeing Company,” Muilenberg said.

The CEO of another major defense contractor Trump has criticized, Lockheed Martin Corp.’s Marillyn Hewson, will meet with Trump later, his aides said.
