GE­OR­GIA COACH FINED FOR ROLE IN “WAKEYLEAKS”

Ge­or­gia fined as­sis­tant coach Shane Beamer $25,000 this week, af­ter he ad­mit­ted to ac­cept­ing plays from former Wake For­est ra­dio broad­caster Tommy El­rod while with Vir­ginia Tech in 2014.

Beamer spent five sea­sons work­ing at Vir­ginia Tech for his fa­ther, Frank, the Hok­ies’ head coach from 1987 to 2015. Last week, Vir­ginia Tech an­nounced that an un­named former as­sis­tant had re­ceived in­for­ma­tion from El­rod be­fore the Hok­ies and De­mon Dea­cons played in 2014.

Michi­gan WR sus­pended.

Michi­gan re­ceiver Grant Perry was ar­raigned on four charges stem­ming from al­le­ga­tions of a sex­ual as­sault in Oc­to­ber, and the bowl-bound Wolverines have sus­pended him from all team ac­tiv­i­ties.

Mixon apol­o­gizes

B nor­man, okla.» Ok­la­homa run­ning back Joe Mixon made a tear­ful pub­lic apol­ogy, more than two years af­ter punch­ing a woman and break­ing bones in her face.

Mixon was sus­pended for a year af­ter his as­sault on Ok­la­homa stu­dent Amelia Moli­tor. He said at a news con­fer­ence he wanted to apol­o­gize ear­lier, but his le­gal team ad­vised him not to. The As­so­ci­ated Press
