Staal scored his 15th ca­reer short-handed goal in the sec­ond pe­riod. … Sid­ney Crosby scored his NHL-lead­ing 24th goal and the Penguins earned a 4-1 win over the Devils. Chad Ruh­wedel got the first goal of his ca­reer for Pitts­burgh. Eric Fehr and Pa­tric Horn­qvist also scored for the Penguins, and Marc-An­dre Fleury made 22 saves to win for the first time in three starts. … Mikko Koivu, Nino Nieder­re­iter and Marco Scan­della scored in a 5-minute span early in the sec­ond pe­riod, and the Wild beat the Rangers 7-4 for their fran­chise-record 10th straight win. FOOT­NOTE

Red Wings-Canes resched­uled. The NHL said the Detroit-Carolina game that was post­poned ear­lier this week has been resched­uled for March 27. The resched­uled game means the teams will play on con­sec­u­tive nights in Raleigh. They were al­ready sched­uled to play each other the fol­low­ing night.
