Colorado drivers ranks low on the list when it comes to national driving statistics.

Quote Wizard, an online resource for comparing insurance rates, used a variety of statistics from state agencies and the website’s users to rate the nation’s drivers state by state. And although Utah came in as the state with the worst drivers, Colorado was eighth-worst, also behind California, Virginia, Maine, Nebraska, South Carolina and North Dakota.

“To quantify overall driver standards for comparison, we weighted various incident counts for each state with its occurrence percentage,” Quote Wizard officials said. “The final rankings are a sum of weighted means that is calculated from total accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, citations and fatalities.”
