Sus­pect in Pue­blo car­jack­ing cap­tured 200 miles away in New Mex­ico

LAS VE­GAS, N.M.» A Pue­blo County car­jack­ing sus­pect re­port­edly made it more than 200 miles Wed­nes­day be­fore be­ing taken into cus­tody.

A wo­man told Pue­blo County deputies she was sit­ting in the pas­sen­ger seat of a 2010 Toy­ota RAV4 at a rest area off of In­ter­state 25 near mile marker 112 around 5:30 a.m., when the sus­pect walked up to her with a gun.

She heard at least one gun­shot and saw the sus­pect break the driver’s side win­dow and get into the car, ac­cord­ing to a Pue­blo County Sher­iff ’s Of­fice new re­lease. She got out of the car and ran to­ward the build­ing, and the sus­pect drove south on I-25.

While this was hap­pen­ing, the male driver of the car was in­side the rest-stop build­ing. No one was in­jured.

The stolen car was re­cov­ered in New Mex­ico, but the iden­tity of the per­son taken into cus­tody has not been re­leased.
