TWO FIREWORKS SHOWS TO LIGHT UP DOWNTOWN
Denver will ring in the New Year on Saturday night with two firework shows scheduled on 16th Street Mall for the 15th year in a row.
The identical shows, each lasting roughly eight minutes, are synchronized with music played by eight DJs along the mall, said Downtown Denver Partnership spokeswoman Sharon Alton. The shows, which start at 9 p.m. and midnight, can be viewed from anywhere on the mall.
The fireworks will be launched from two rooftops — the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel and an undisclosed location, according to DDP. Each show has 15,000 impressions in the sky and ends with a 40second finale.
The DJs will play music from 8 p.m. to midnight along the 16th Street Mall from Court Place to Larimer Street, Alton said.
There will be limited Free MallRide service from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday because of the shows, according to the Regional Transportation District. There will be no service on the D, F and H lines between the theater district/convention center and 18th & California/Stout stations.
RTD bus, rail, Access-a-Ride and SkyRide services will be free from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. RTD will operate on a weekday schedule Saturday but a Sunday/holiday schedule on New Year’s Day.
