The Denver Post - - NEWS - By Kirk Mitchell

Deputies in Arapahoe County are searching for a man accused of fatally shooting a 36-year-old man he found in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment Thursday night.

Authorities have not identified the suspect because they are still seeking a warrant for his arrest, said Julie Brooks, spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, the woman and a friend of the suspect, who also got involved in the explosive argument, have not been identified.

The suspect is the father of a child with the woman. The suspect and the mother have a history of domestic violence, Brooks said.

“They shared a child,” she said. “We know who we are looking for.”

The suspect showed up at the woman’s apartment, on the 3100 block of W. Girard Avenue, Thursday night with a friend. The woman did not know her ex-boyfriend’s companion, Brooks said.

“They were uninvited, unannounced and unwanted,” Brooks said.

An argument broke out among the victim, suspect and the other man, Brooks said. The friend of the suspect and the victim got into a fistfight, she said, and the friend wound up “on the losing end of the fight.”

Investigators believe the ex-boyfriend pulled out a gun and shot and killed the 36year-old man, Brooks said.
