LEONARD PROPELS BUFFS IN WNIT

brookings, s.d.» Sophomore guard Kennedy Leonard scored 29 points in a tremendous allaround effort to lead Colorado to an 81-75 overtime victory against South Dakota State on Sunday in the second round of the WNIT.

Leonard added eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals for the Buffs (17-15), who travel to Iowa for a third-round game Thursday. Senior forward Haley Smith scored 21 points for the Buffs, who played without sophomore starting guard Alexis Robinson, who suffered an injured knee last week in practice.

The Jackrabbit­s (23-9) were led by Ellie Thompson’s 20 points. Rams eliminated in WNIT B fort collins» Ellen Nystrom scored 18 points in her final game for Colorado State, which lost 58-57 to UC Davis (25-7) in the WNIT’s second round.

CSU, which also got 12 points apiece from Elin Gustavsson and Sofie Tryggedsso­n, finished 25-9.
