POLICE FIND BODY AMID CAR THEFT ARREST

- By Jesse Paul

Colorado Springs police say they don’t believe there was foul play involved in the death of a man whose body was found in a home this week by officers searching for a car-theft suspect.

It’s unclear how long the dead man had been there, police spokesman Lt. Howard Black said.

Investigators say a citizen called authorities to report that a stolen vehicle and a suspect in the theft had been found in front of a house in the 200 block of Longfellow Drive in the southeast part of the city. The person said the suspect had gone into the home.

While searching the house Monday afternoon, officers found the dead man and located the theft suspect, who had barricaded himself in a downstairs room.

Colorado Springs police say a tactical unit was called in to help arrest him.

Police say several people were arrested but haven’t released their identities.
