BLUE BELL IS BACK IN DENVER’S FREEZERS
Get out your ice cream scoops — Blue Bell has resumed distribution of its frozen treats in the Denver area.
Grocery store deliveries officially began Monday, the Texas-based ice cream maker said. Blue Bell is also reopening its distribution facility in Centennial.
King Soopers, Safeway and Walmart are among the grocers that will carry Blue Bell products.
“It could take up to two weeks to deliver products to every store, so initially, we will bring in additional employees from other states to help with the opening,” vice president of sales and marketing Wayne Hugo said in a statement.
Blue Bell products have not been available in the Denver metro area since April 2015 when the company pulled its products nationwide amid a listeria outbreak that killed three people.
Since then, Blue Bell has slowly returned to grocery store shelves market by market.
Its return to Colorado includes Denver and its suburbs, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Longmont, Fort Collins, Loveland, Pueblo, Greeley and Evergreen. Grocery stores in Cheyenne also will resume stocking Blue Bell products.
