phoenix » Newly signed Arizona legislation will require businesses to file state taxes electronically.

The Department of Revenue says a bill signed Friday by Gov. Doug Ducey will enable state government to work more efficiently and faster than is done with paper returns.

HB2280 will generally require businesses to electrically file and pay transaction privilege tax, phasing in the requirement over several years.

Also, e- filing of annual corporate income tax, fiduciary, and partnership returns will begin in tax year 2020.

The legislation includes opt- outs under certain circumstances, including lack of computer or internet access.
